THE EXPERIENCE
Some areas need more than everyday moisture. Skin gets rubbed, picked, overworked or simply stressed—and sometimes you want to give that spot a little extra attention.
Black Mastic is made for those moments. Warm a small amount between your fingers and gently work it over the area, then let the balm remain rather than rubbing it in until it disappears.
NOTICE
Notice the areas that have been rubbed, picked, stressed or simply need a little extra attention.
TEND

PROTECT
Let the balm settle into a soft, lasting layer rather than rubbing it in until it disappears.
A soft protective layer that stays with your skin.
THE RESULTS
Black Mastic absorbs slowly, conditioning the skin while leaving behind a soft, persistent film. Mastic resin, beeswax and rich botanical oils work together to help hold moisture against the skin and provide a protective layer from everyday exposure.
Skin feels conditioned, comfortable and protected—not coated in a heavy layer of balm.

WHY THE MEDITERRANEAN?
It begins on one Greek island.
At the heart of Black Mastic is mastic resin from Chios, Greece. While the mastic tree grows throughout the Mediterranean, Chios Mastiha comes from trees cultivated in the southern part of this Aegean island—a tradition so closely tied to place that Chios Mastiha holds Protected Designation of Origin status.
The resin is slowly infused into olive oil to create the foundation of Black Mastic, then paired with black cumin seed oil and other botanicals with long histories of use in Mediterranean and neighboring traditions of skin care.
-
For generations, villages in southern Chios have cultivated mastic trees and collected their aromatic resin. Small incisions are made in the bark, allowing drops of resin to emerge and harden into the characteristic “tears” of mastic.
Its relationship with the island goes beyond an ingredient source—the cultivation and harvesting of Chios mastic is a tradition passed from generation to generation.
-
Two of the formula's most substantial oils have deep histories across Mediterranean and neighboring cultures. Olive oil carries the mastic infusion and forms the foundation of the balm, while black cumin seed oil brings richness and its distinctive warm, spiced character.
Together with mastic, they form the botanical core of Black Mastic.
-
Calendula and chamomile have longstanding histories of topical use in traditional skin care. Their concentrated CO₂ extracts bring those familiar botanicals into a modern formula alongside mastic, black cumin and olive.
-
Across the Mediterranean and surrounding regions, plant oils, aromatic resins, waxes and herbs have long been used to tend and protect the skin. Black Mastic draws from that tradition, bringing these time-honored materials together in a modern anhydrous balm.
Every ingredient earns its place.
WHAT’S INSIDE
MASTIC RESIN
A resin with a centuries-old role in skin care.
Harvested from Pistacia lentiscus, mastic is the aromatic resin traditionally collected as hardened “tears” from trees cultivated on Chios, Greece. It has a long history of medicinal use, including traditional European preparations for minor skin inflammation and minor wounds.
Mastic is naturally rich in triterpenes and other resin compounds studied for antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. The resin is slowly infused into olive oil to capture its oil-soluble constituents.
CASTOR OIL
Traditional care for compromised skin.
A uniquely thick, emollient oil with a long history of topical use for irritated and damaged skin. Naturally rich in ricinoleic acid, castor oil has a dense, persistent character that conditions skin and leaves behind a lasting protective feel.
OLIVE OIL
A Mediterranean skin-care staple.
Rich in oleic acid, squalene and naturally occurring antioxidant compounds, olive oil has been used on skin throughout the Mediterranean for centuries. Its rich emollient character softens and conditions while helping reinforce the skin's protective lipid layer.
BEESWAX + OLIVE SQUALANE
Protection, balanced.
Beeswax forms a breathable, persistent layer over the skin that helps slow moisture loss and protect the skin's surface. Olive-derived squalane is a lightweight, highly skin-compatible emollient that mimics a component naturally found in human sebum, helping soften and condition without adding heaviness.
Together, they balance staying power with spreadability—the protective persistence of wax with the silky feel of squalane.
BLACK CUMIN SEED OIL
Traditional care with a complex chemistry.
Nigella sativa has centuries of traditional topical use across the Mediterranean, Middle East and neighboring regions. Its oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and contains thymoquinone, a distinctive naturally occurring compound that has been widely studied for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.
CALENDULA + CHAMOMILE CO₂
Concentrated botanical support.
Calendula and chamomile have long histories of traditional use for irritated, inflamed and compromised skin. Calendula is valued for its triterpenes and carotenoids, while chamomile contains naturally occurring compounds including bisabolol and chamazulene, known for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Concentrated CO₂ extracts capture a broad range of the flowers' oil-soluble compounds, bringing their botanical complexity into the formula in a concentrated, standardized form.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Targeted care.
Use a thin layer when you want light protection, or apply a little more when you want a longer-lasting layer over the skin.
KEEP IT LIGHT
Smooth a small amount over an area that feels stressed or needs a little extra attention. A thin layer leaves skin conditioned with a soft protective finish.
LAYER IT
Apply a little more when you want greater staying power. The balm absorbs slowly, leaving a more substantial protective layer over the skin.
FOCUS THE CARE
Reach for Black Mastic on individual areas that have been rubbed, picked or overworked—wherever skin could use some focused attention.
Warm. Press. Protect.
1 · START SMALL

3 · APPLY
Gently smooth or press over clean skin where you want focused care.
4 · LET IT STAY
Allow the balm to settle into the skin rather than rubbing until it disappears. A soft protective layer will remain on the surface.
